New in Internet Services 11.0

Content Services
Content Services (CS) is a new component of FirstClass. It provides content (bad words) scanning and virus scanning of locally delivered messages (FirstClass user to FirstClass user). It is used in conjuction with an external SMTP based content/virus scanner (referred to as Content Scanner) that provides the actual scanning.
Secure content site
A secure content site is an important security feature that provides an added measure of protection against system attacks. Its purpose is to allow administrators to set up read-only sites to be used for file downloads. This prevents potential attacks on the system where an attachment or uploaded file may contain malicious HTML that executes an attack on a user when it is opened through the web. By moving all file download activity to a read-only site, the various browsers' cross site scripting defenses act to prevent this potential threat.
Headermatch
  • Support has been added for a "user.HeaderMatch" document, which will provide a place for admin customisations of the web server's behaviour that will not be replaced during the upgrade process. Click here for more information.
  • HTTP server logging can now be set on a per-request basis via headermatch 'set debuglevel = <int>' statements. Click here for more information.
  • Added support for RESET and CLEAR actions in HeaderMatch documents.
Filtering
Trusting and blocking IPs can now be done at the protocol level. IP addresses in Filter documents can be preceeded by '<protolist>:', where <protolist> is one or more of the keywords: smtp, http, ftp, pop3, imap or ldap, separated by commas. Click here for more information.
SMTP Mail Rules
rules.SMTPDebug is a new rules document that provides a place for the administrator to add built-in mail rule variables that won't be replaced during an upgrade. These mail rules include SMTP server, mail decoding and MIME decoding debug levels and can be set on a per-connection basis. Click here for more information.
SMTP submission port
The list of alternatives for the SMTP auth mode control has been expanded. You can now set it up to allow any auth method to potentially be enabled or disabled on either normal or secure connections. Click here for more information.
MIME Type
An additional parameter has been added to MIME Type entries: "allowcompression".
General
  • "Livelink Server" has been renamed to "Content Server".
  • NNTP server and client references have been removed.
Changes to forms
  • The Advanced Directory, Advanced Mail, and Advanced Web & File forms have been altered. The protocol tabs on each form have been divided into multiple subtabs to accommodate TTS handling and identifying specific email addresses for each protocol.
  • On the Basic Internet Setup form, the News tab has been removed and there is a new "Proxy" tab that lets you configure the FCP proxy service.
  • On the Group Privileges form > Services tab, a "Content scanning" field has been added to let you activate Content Services.
