Setting user limits
About user limits
The limits that apply to an Open Text Social Workplace user are:
• daily connection time
• session inactivity limit
• disk space limit.
If your users are members of several groups where these limits have been changed from the default values, it is important to understand how they work.
First and foremost, the user limits set in the User Information form will override any of the user group forms.
User limit |
Default configured in |
Definition |
Daily connection limit |
System Profile |
The number of minutes a user can be connected during a 24 hour period |
Inactivity limit before logoff |
System Profile |
The number of minutes a user can be inactive before the server automatically logs off the user. |
Disk space limit |
All Users group |
The maximum amount of disk space for each user. |
How user limits are calculated
The server creates a table from the System Profile, the All Users group, any administrator-defined groups, the override groups, and the User Information form.
1 |
System Profile |
Daily time limit and inactivity time are set and if they are not changed at the group or user level, the user inherits these settings. |
2 |
All Users group |
Sets the default for Directory view, multimatch and disk usage. If daily time limit and inactivity time is different than the System Profile, the user will inherit the All Users settings. |
3 |
Administrator-defined groups |
If user limits are changed in administrator-defined groups, the user gets the best of all the configurations. |
4 |
User Information form |
Any changes made at the user level override all other groups, including interface groups and the System Profile. |
