About the administrator's account

When you install Open Text Social Workplace, a special user account is created for the Open Text Social Workplace administrator.

Never delete this account. If you do, you won't be able to log in as the administrator, and you will have to reinstall the server.
To log into this account for the first time:
1       Start the FirstClass client.
2       Type the following values at the Login screen:
  • user ID - admin
  • password - admin
To preserve the security of your system, you should change the password for the administrator account as soon as you log in by choosing Collaborate > Change Password. Keep the new password confidential. We recommend that you not save the password in your settings file.

If you forget the administrator's password
The administrator's account is the most powerful user account on the system. If you forget your administrator password, you can't log in and perform administrative tasks.
Fortunately, the password can be reset through a command that is executed by the server on startup.
To reset the administrator's password to a known value:
1       Create a text file named ResetPW.ba on your server's computer.
2       Type this in the body of the text file:
PUT USER ADMIN 1217 0 newpw
where newpw is your new password.
3       Copy or move the file to the \FCNS\Server\Batch folder.
4       Shut down your server (fcs64.exe).
5       Restart your server.
The command will be executed when the server starts up and you will be able to log in as the administrator using the new password.
