New in FirstClass 11.0
Licensing
  • The regular server license has been increased from 250 sessions to 500 sessions.
  • Session licenses are now billed on a per-user instead of a per connection basis. The result of this change should be that if the same user logs in multiple times, the server's licensing system will only consider one license to be in use.
FirstClass Scripting
  • Ability to permanently eliminate cleartext password retrieval. If you don't do anything with this, you will continue to have the ability to retrieve passwords in cleartext. If you use batch admin to turn this off, it is permanent and can't be reversed.
Syntax
ACTIVATE SECUREPASSWORDS +FINAL
81203_40013_5.png        Warning

  • Added the keyword VERSION to the IF command to allow the ability to check the version of the running server.
  • Added the ability populate a Resume for a group using the PUT command.
Syntax
        PUT ABOUT <GroupName> <FieldID> <FieldType> <FieldValue>...
Example
        PUT ABOUT "Web Services" 1000 14 1978 1001 0 "Testing 1-2-3"
Audit
  • Changes Shared Documents folder into a conference.
Archive Services
  • A new Mailbox container is created whenever the expiry period is changed.
  • Users can be placed in a legal hold group where the expiry is set to 5 years.
  • Multiple Librarian accounts are supported.
Changes to forms
Server Monitor
  • Tab order has changed.
  • On the "Users" tab, the "License limits for users" section has changed to differentiate between regular and remote users. This replaces the need for "Active sessions" field on the Summary tab.
Group Privileges
  • On the Group Privileges form, a new "Profile" tab lets you build a company hierarchy and choose whether to display the hierarchy for that group in OTSW.
  • Archive Services fields have been added to the Services tab to support the legal hold capability and tell FirstClass what to do when the archive retention period changes.
System Profile
  • New "Profile" tab lets you view the current organization hierarchy as your OTSW users will see it, or, use the Assist button to create a hierarchy automatically based on organizational units that you've set up and defined on the User Information forms.
Conference Group Permissions
  • New "Open by name" field gives users permission to open a conference as long as they can see it in the Directory and have the open permission. They do not need to link to it from their Desktop or from a subconference.
